Three held for beating traffic cops
Police on Thursday arrested three people for assaulting traffic cops near Karachi Cantonment Station.
According to Section Officer Mehtab Soomro, the traffic police personnel were busy with routine duties at the traffic police post close to the Karachi Cantonment Station when they intercepted a car in which three young men were travelling. The cops fined them as they were travelling with duplicate documents and registration number plate of the car.
At this, car occupants got angry and started beating the cops, Soomro said, adding that the suspects also entered the traffic police post where they further thrashed the cops by throwing chairs and a table at them. As a result, one cop suffered a serious head injury and was taken to hospital for medical treatment. Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police reached the scene and arrested the suspects.
