Two receive burns

LAHORE: Two persons received burns when a fire erupted at their house near Butt Chowk, Tajpura Scheme, on Tuesday.

Rescue-1122 fire service reached the scene, extinguished the fire and shifted the victims to a hospital.

The victims were identified as Shamim, 39, daughter of Akhtar (20% burns) and Sabir, 65, son of Rehmat (5% burns). Valuables worth lakhs of rupees were also gutted.

In another fire incident, plastic sheets were reduced to ashes due in a fire erupted at a godown situated in Tajbagh.

Yet in another incident, fire erupted at a house near Mian Mir Colony and reduced valuables to ashes. No loss of life or injury to anyone was reported in the incident.

Rescue-1122 responded to the emergency and controlled fire.

POLICE CRACKDOWN: Lahore Police, Iqbal Town Division, in its crackdown, arrested 49 alleged criminals and recovered 12 pistols, bullets, 1.495kg charas and 59 bottles of liquor from them. Iqbal Town division police also busted gangs and arrested its six members, along with recoveries worth thousands of rupees from them.

Police also recovered thousands of rupees from five alleged criminals in its successful action against gamblers.

Also, four proclaimed and target offenders of A and B categories in cases of theft, cheque dishonour fraud and other crimes were arrested.

Iqbal Town division police arrested 12 persons for violating Price Control and the Tennant Acts.
