Sajid Khan appointed Chief Information Commissioner
PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has appointed Sajid Khan, a retired BPS-21 officer, as Chief Information Commissioner, Right to Information Commission. A notification said he has been appointed under the provision contained in the Section 24 (3) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Information Act, 2013 with immediate effect. “The Chief Information Commissioner shall hold the office for a term of three years from the date on which he enters upon office or till he attains the age of sixty-five (65) years whichever is earlier and shall not be eligible for re-appointment,” said a notification of the Information & Public Relations Department, Government of KP. The search committee constituted by the PTI government under the chairmanship of KP Information Minister Shaukat Ali Yousafzai had recommended his name for appointment as Chief Information Commissioner out of a list of shortlisted candidates. Sajid Khan, also known as Sajid Khan Jadoon, had retired as secretary to the government after serving on important positions in the province.
