A school of one’s own

April 06, 2018

It appears that much-touted improvements in the activities of our education sector are restricted to the country’s developed cities. In the remote areas of Pakistan, the education sector is in a deplorable state. Poor level of infrastructure; absenteeism among teachers; the lack of government funds; and inexperienced teachers are the main reasons for the challenges faced by our education sector in the country. Schools situated in Hotabad – a small village in the Kech district – depict a poor image of our education system.

Essential subjects, like science, are not taught in an effective manner. As a result, many students do not understand the basic concepts of science and mathematics and have a difficult time while preparing for their board exams. In fact, they lack the ability to write a short paragraph on any given topic. People living in the remote areas have the right to quality education. The incompetence of our government has pushed our education sector into a state of continuous decline. It is hoped that the authorities concerned will look into this matter at the earliest.
