‘Forensic science an effective inquiry tool’
The additional inspector general of the Sindh police’s Special Branch, Wali Ullah Dal, has highlighted the significance of forensic science in modern investigations as an effective tool and quoted the example of the Zainab murder case in Kasur.
Speaking as chief guest on Friday at a ceremony related to a training of trainers through a two-week course in forensic investigations at the Saeedabad Police Training College, he said it was an utmost effort of Inspector General of Police AD Khowaja to invest in training and equipping the police with modern gadgets.
He added that schools of intelligence and investigation were going to be operational soon. A spokesman said that training would be imparted to 30 trainees -- 20 males and 10 females—from the training college and field units from across Sindh, and the effort would be supported by the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, US Embassy.
DIG Sharjil Kharal of the Sindh Police Training Department spoke about the salient features of training and objectives of the module on forensic investigation, which he said he himself had authored. He further emphasised the need and importance for the trickle-down effect of forensic science and investigation skills at range and districts levels. He emphasised that the need for training in the field of investigation and other areas of policing.
