PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council on Monday announced a complete boycott courts across the province for today to protest US President Donald Trump’s announcement of recognising Al-Quds as Israel’s capital, a move that has drawn global condemnation and sparked unrest in the Palestinian territories.
The KP Bar Council’s gave the call in its general body meeting. It asked the lawyers to stay away from courts and hold protest meetings.
Following the decision of KP Bar Council, the Peshawar High Court Bar Association and Peshawar Bar Association also announced a complete strike in the provincial capital for today.
Meanwhile, PHC Bar Association held a meeting. The association president, Arbab Muhammad Usman, chaired the meeting.
The meeting announced strike at the PHC. It was also decided to hold a protest meeting to condemn the move by Donald Trump and pass a resolution against it.
The lawyers in the meeting flayed the US President’s announcement. They feared it would stoke up violence in Middle East.
