Mumtaz Bhutto breaks his SNF free from Nawaz League

Says he will reactivate his own party to achieve Jinnah’s Pakistan 

Mumtaz Ali Bhutto, chief of the Sindh National Front (SNF), has broken his silence to announce his disassociation from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and decided to reactivate his own party in line with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Bhutto has been quiet for some time and angry with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for, what he believes, neglecting Sindh. He also senses that Sharif has good relations with Pakistan Peoples Party leader Asif Ali Zardari. His son, Ameer Bhutto, has also quit as adviser in protest and has now finally decided to break the SNF free from the PML-N.

Before the 2013 general elections, Bhutto had merged his party with the PML-N to defeat Zardari, but now sensing good relations between the two, his party’s central executive committee has decided to part ways with PML-N. The SNP believes that Zardari and Sharif are playing their own games for vested interests.

Addressing a press conference at his residence on Tuesday, Bhutto said Sharif had broken the promised made to him and now he could not get along with the corrupt that “deviated from the very being of Pakistan”.

Bhutto, who is a former Sindh chief minister and cousin of the late Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, said he had decided to go to the people and create awareness to ensure that the country was conformity with the Jinnah’s Pakistan.

“Pakistan today is no way conforms to Jinnah’s vision. It never has. Mr Jinnah and the Muslim League lured the Muslim majority areas of India into opting for Pakistan with the promise of autonomy and sovereignty.

“The promise was broken, leading to revolt by Balochistan within 48 hours of the creation of Pakistan. East Pakistan became rebellious. Governments came and went within the first ten years. It took nine years to enact the first constitution; that too based on the undemocratic principle of parity, a denial of the Bengali majority. This absurd state led to military rule within 11 years of Pakistan’s creation.”

Bhutto said that the SNF wanted Jinnah’s Pakistan, and “under the written agreement we had merged our party into the Pakistan Muslim League-N, but Nawaz Sharif has torn our agreement into pieces and adopts a reconciliation policy towards Zardari”.
