Karachi beat Peshawar Greens in final
KARACHI: Hoorana Sajjad and Sana Arooj enabled Karachi to defeat Peshawar Greens by three runs in the final of the 2nd All Pakistan Mrs Saad Invitational Women Cricket tournament at Arbab Niaz Stadium, Peshawar, on Saturday.
Openers Hoorana (44) and Sana (49) put on 86 to guide Karachi to 139-4 in the allotted 20 overs.
Hoorana struck seven fours from 35 balls, while Sana smacked ten fours from 34 deliveries. Rohida took 2-23. Samreen and Nousheen claimed one wicket each. In reply, Peshawar Greens were restricted to 136-7 in the allotted 20 overs.
Ayesha top-scored 73 off 48 deliveries, hitting seven fours and two sixes. At one stage Peshawar Greens required 28 in two overs. Ayesha used long handle, plundering 20 runs in the second last over to bring the target within reach.
But in the last over the hosts could score only four runs. Rameen and Rida took two wickets each. Mrs Malik Saad distributed prizes. The winners Karachi were handed over a purse of Rs100,000 while the runners-up Peshawar Greens received Rs50,000.
