PHA-FWO agreement for Swat Motorway construction
PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Friday attended the signing ceremony between Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority (PHA) and Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) for the Swat Motorway construction.
Administrative secretaries, PHA managing director and FWO representatives attended the ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s House, said an official handout. The Swat Motorway would be 83 km long with two km long tunnels each one km in length. The project would cost Rs40 billion.
The cost of the land is Rs5 billion and the infrastructure cost will stand at Rs35 billion. The provincial government would pay the cost of the project in two installments and the first installment is ready to be handed over to the FWO.
The Swat Motorway is a flag-ship project. The construction work is being taken in hand from both ends of the Swat Motorway. The FWO is mobilising four heavy machines for drilling. FWO Director General Maj-Gen Muhammad Afzal in a recent meeting had given assurance for the completion of Swat Motorway in time.
