Residents across Karachi are suffering as an intense heatwave grips the city, accompanied by severe water shortages and frequent power outages. Despite prior heatwave warnings, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and K-Electric have failed to maintain essential water and electricity supplies, leaving thousands vulnerable.
Unplanned loadshedding in various areas of the city has added to the hardships, particularly for low-income neighbourhoods. With temperatures soaring above 40C, many are left without cooling options and/or water, making daily life unbearable. The relevant departments must fulfil their responsibilities and provide urgent relief to the people of Karachi.
