NEW DELHI: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday denied claims made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that India had informed Pakistan in advance of launching Operation Sindoor, Indian media reported.
The claim followed External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar’s recent remarks made during an interaction at the Embassy of Honduras in New Delhi. Gandhi, in a post on social media platform X, alleged that Jaishankar had admitted the government of India alerted Pakistan at the start of the attack. He wrote: “Informing Pakistan at the start of our attack was a crime. EAM has publicly admitted that GOI did it. 1. Who authorised it? 2. How many aircraft did our air force lose as a result?” He also shared a video clip of Jaishankar’s comments from the event.
In response, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “We had warned Pakistan at the start, which is clearly the early phase after Operation Sindoor’s commencement. This is being falsely represented as being before the commencement. This utter misrepresentation of facts is being called out.”
It clarified that Jaishankar’s comments referred to the early phase of the operation and not to any prior intimation before its commencement.
Hearing of the case registered by Aabpara police station was adjourned till July 15
It focused on aligning Pakistan’s practices with the Basel, Rotterdam, Stockholm, and Minamata Conventions
