‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ initiative: 574,265 citizens apply for interest-free loans

LAHORE:So far 574,265 individuals have submitted applications for interest-free loans and 33,486 individuals have been provided Rs364.4 billion in loan.

This information was shared by Secretary Housing Capt (retd) Asadullah Khan, Bank of Punjab President Zafar Masood, and PHATA DG Sikandar Zeeshan during a meeting chaired by Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin on Monday. The meeting was convened to review the progress on ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ initiative.

It was told in the briefing that in terms of regional distribution, in Lahore Division 4,207 families have received loans for home construction. In Gujranwala 3,923 families, in Faisalabad 4,090 families, Rawalpindi 4,625 families, Sargodha 3,927, Sahiwal 2,057, Multan 3,750, Bahawalpur 3,551 and in DG Khan 3,356 families have received loans for home construction.

The Punjab Housing Minister stated that 27,321 houses are currently under construction across the province, while 1,900 houses have been completed. He emphasised that monthly targets should be aligned to achieve the goal of building 100,000 houses this year.

Bilal Yasin directed that the screening process for applicants should be made more transparent and accelerated. “Every citizen applies with hope, and interest-free loans will be provided to as many deserving individuals as possible on a merit basis. Constructing 100,000 houses annually will significantly reduce the problems of the homeless people,” he said.
