LAHORE:Lahore Police have arrested 679 individuals and registered 667 cases in ongoing operations against the illegal activity of kite flying this year.
The Lahore Police spokesman stated this in a statement issued today, emphasizing the city's ongoing efforts to curb this dangerous practice. The spokesman revealed that more than 22,000 kites and 847 reels of string were confiscated from the arrested individuals. A breakdown of arrests across various city divisions is led to 142 in the City Division, 232 in the Cantonment area, 41 in Civil Lines, 44 in the Sadr Division, 91 in Iqbal Town, and 129 in Model Town.
CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana reiterated that individuals involved in the hazardous activity of kite flying using metal strings would face strict legal action. He directed that no leniency would be shown toward those endangering lives. Additionally, the CCPO ordered intelligence-based operations targeting those involved in the illegal kite-making trade. He reaffirmed his commitment to enforcing the Kite Flying Act and ensuring violators are brought to justice. The Punjab Safe Cities Authority's surveillance network will be fully utilided to prevent further kite flying incidents. Shadman Police, acting on secret information, arrested a notorious kite seller, Nauman. Authorities recovered 50 kites, two reels of string, and other kite-flying equipment.
