Every year, Hyderi Market in Karachi comes alive during Ramazan. As the crowds increase, so do the challenges. Narrow walkways become clogged, vendors spill into the streets, and traffic comes to a standstill. To make matters worse, the roads are in terrible condition, with broken patches and potholes making it difficult for both pedestrians and vehicles to navigate safely. Cleanliness is also a major concern. Food stalls and vendors leave behind heaps of trash, and the market’s waste disposal system seems almost non-existent.
The overflowing garbage not only creates an unpleasant environment but also raises serious hygiene issues, especially when food is being sold nearby. It is time the authorities took proper measures to manage the market more effectively. Organising vendors, ensuring regular garbage collection, repairing the damaged roads, and improving crowd control would make a huge difference.
