Traffic cop killed in Lakki Marwat road mishap

LAKKI MARWAT: A traffic police constable was killed after being run over by a speeding truck on the Peshawar-Karachi Highway near Darra Pezu, police said on Friday.

According to officials, Constable Siraj Khan was on duty regulating traffic when a truck loaded with cement bags, coming from Dera Ismail Khan, hit him. The impact left him critically injured, and he died on the spot.

The police shifted the body to District Headquarters Hospital Tajazai for medico-legal formalities before taking it to the police lines, where a contingent of officers presented a final salute.Deputy Commissioner Zeeshan Abdullah and senior police officials laid floral wreaths on the coffin and offered prayers for the deceased. Siraj Khan was later buried in his ancestral graveyard in Tajazai village.Authorities have impounded the truck and registered a case against the driver, who fled the scene after the accident.
