The registrar of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, has expressed deep concern over admission denials to private medical colleges as per the merit list and in this regard has also written a letter to the principal of Liaquat National College.

The letter states that the health department, Government of Sindh, vide a notification (No.SO(ME)1-1-AP/2024-25, dated 14-06-2024), has authorized, LUMHS to conduct the admission process for both public and private sector medical and dental universities/colleges in Sindh for the academic session 2024-2025 in accordance with the Pakistan Medial & Dental Council, Act 2022.

The letter further says that in compliance with the Health Department notification and PMDC regulation, the LUMHS initiated the admissions process, opened the admission portal and finalized selection lists based on the candidate's choice & merit preference. These lists were then forwarded to the respective colleges, “including your college for further admission processing”.

The registrar said that it is great concern that we have received many complaints regarding denial of admission by your college without any valid reason which is gross violation of the notification of Health Department, Government of Sindh, and Pakistan Medical & Dental Council Act, 2022.

“You are hereby directed to admit only selected candidates list shared by this University, in both letter and spirit. Any admission of candidates beyond the provided list will not be recognized for admission or PM&DC registration. In case your College proceeds with such unauthorized admissions, this University will have no option but to report the matter to the Health Department, Government of Sindh, and Pakistan Medical & Dental Council for immediate legal action in accordance with relevant rules and regulations.”
