Punjab Assembly supports Pakistan armed forces
LAHORE:After endorsing 26th Amendment in its last sitting, Punjab Assembly on Monday passed resolutions expressing complete support of Pakistan Armed forces while lauding its services and sacrifices for country.
The resolution moved by Punjab Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mian Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman was unanimously passed by the House. The Resolution stated that battles could be fought with the help of weapons but could not be won with them as they are decided with the valour of the soldiers. Quoting the founder of the nation Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, ‘not weapons, but the valour, courage and consistency is needed for defence, which you possess’. The resolution also added that the House pays tribute to country’s armed forces for its services and constant sacrifices. It also added that the Pakistan armed forces had always come up to the expectations of Pakistani nation and it’s brave soldiers had always make us feel proud. During the PA session chaired by Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, the members also held post-budget discussions. Opposition leader in PA Malik Ahmad Bachar while participating in the debate stated that a very little amount from the annual budget 2024-25 had been spent on public. He stated it seemed there was no use of this post-budget discussion in which people of Punjab were given the least priority. Punjab Minister for Communication and Works Malik Suhaib Bharth while responding to the complaints of legislators regarding the poor road infrastructure in their respective constituencies stated that he would leave no stone unturned to purge his department of corruption. He told that the entire Punjab road network was being digitalised on Google map. He assured that by next year, the level of anger amongst MPAs concerning their complaints to the roads situation would come down. Suhaib also stated that the Rs45 billions of public money had been saved by him and it would be spent on Punjab people.
Nadia Khar, the Opposition MPA, came hard on Punjab Police for arresting and blind-folding her. She said she was the member of this House and her arrest required permission from the Speaker. The Speaker on the occasion warned that he would never let anyone violating the Punjab Assembly Rules of Procedures and privilege of the members.
