Another PO arrested from abroad

LAHORE: Another proclaimed offender has been arrested from UAE and repatriated with close coordination and police follow-up with Interpol. The total number of proclaimed offenders arrested from abroad this year has reached 26.

Sabir Ali went UAE after swindling Rs30 lakh from a citizen in Mianwali three years ago. Police had issued a red notice of the accused from Interpol and continued efforts to arrest Sabir Ali and finally arrested him from the United Arab Emirates. The arrested accused was taken into custody by the Mianwali police at the airport.

IG Dr Usman Anwar congratulated the police team for arresting another proclaimed offender from abroad. He directed that the accused should be punished after completing the legal process without delay.

11 die in road accidents in 24 hours

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,259 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, 11 people died, whereas 1,350 were injured. Out of these, 594 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 756 victims with minor injuries were treated on the spot by Rescue medical teams.

Man commits suicide

A 35-year-old man committed suicide by consuming poisonous pills in the limits of North Cantt police on Wednesday. The victim was identified as Zohaib, son of Mushtaq. Police said that reason for the suicide was yet to be ascertained. Edhi volunteers shifted the body to the mortuary.

Two found dead

Two people were found dead in different parts of the City on Wednesday. A 30-year-old woman was found dead Sherpao Bridge, Ghalib Market. Police claimed that the woman, yet to be identified, was an addict who might have died of excessive use of drugs. Meanwhile, a 65-year-old man was recovered dead from Batapur police area. Edhi volunteers shifted the bodies to the morgue.
