Police on Sunday registered a case and arrested a teacher for allegedly throwing acid at his female student and her uncles in a private coaching centre in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
It was reported in the late hours of Saturday that a teacher at the coaching centre located near NIPA Chowrangi within the limits of the Aziz Bhatti police station had thrown acid at a girl over verbal altercation, resulting in injuries to her and her two uncles Noman and Faizan.
The injured persons were taken to the burns ward of the Civil Hospital, Karachi. Aziz Bhatti SHO Qurban Ali said the police had arrested the suspect who had thrown acid at the girl. He was identified as Iftikhar.
The case was registered against the suspect on the compliant of one of the injured persons, Noman, who told the police that his niece went to the coaching centre to obtain an IT course certificate where Iftikhar misbehaved with her.
When the girl informed the family about it, Noman said, he and his elder brother Faizan went to the coaching centre and while there were discussing the matter, Iftikhar threw acid on them. Police said they were investigating the incident and statements of other students of the centre were also being recorded.
