Peaceful environment provided to cricket fans

LAHORE:Punjab police, on the instructions of IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, made strict security arrangements for two Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Lahore and Multan on Wednesday.

The first match was played between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore and the second match was played between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars at the Multan Stadium.

IG Punjab said all resources were used for the security and convenience of cricketers, officials and cricket fans. Hundreds of police personnel, traffic, dolphin, PRU and other formations, including Elite force were on security duty. Moment by moment monitoring of stadiums and other sensitive places was ensured with the help of CCTV cameras of Safe City, he added.

Dr Usman Anwar said that senior police officers supervised all the arrangements, including security and traffic. A completely peaceful environment was provided to cricket enthusiasts.

IG visits Elite Training Centre

IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar visited Elite Training Centre Bedian Road and reviewed the construction work of residences in Police Housing Project (GEMS). On Wednesday. Additional IG Elite Waqar Abbasi, AIG Development Sahibzada Bilal Umar briefed him about the housing project. IG Punjab reviewed the quality of construction materials and directed them to speed up the pace of work.

He directed that there should be no compromise on material and quality during the construction of residences and senior officers should personally supervise the construction work of the houses and complete the projects as soon as possible.

Dutch hockey players call on IGP

Netherlands hockey club team players and coaches along with Olympian Khwaja Junaid, organiser Tahir Shah called on IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar at the Central Police Office.

Chief Sports Officer, DIG Athar Ismail briefed the Dutch hockey players about athletes of Punjab police, sports activities and different floors of Central Police Office, including martyrs and Ghazi walls, Legends wall etc. Dutch hockey players were also given a tour of the Central Police Office Auditorium, Museum and other floors. IG Punjab gave souvenirs to the Dutch hockey players and in return, they also presented gifts to IG Punjab. Earlier, Netherland’s OHC Bully hockey club team defeated HEC by 4-3 in the second match to level the 3-match series at the National Hockey Stadium.
