15 KP districts declared most sensitive

A total of 96605 police officials will perform their duties during the elections

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have declared 15 districts as the most sensitive because of the law and order situation in the province.

Approximately 28261 military personnel, including Frontier Corps and Frontier Constabulary, will be deployed to ensure security during the elections.

A total of 96605 police officials will perform their duties during the elections.

According to reports, 20 threats were received by the law enforcement agencies. The terrorists threatened attacks in South Waziristan, Peshawar, Bannu, Mardan, Charsadda, Shangla, Khyber, Swat, and DI Khan.

Five general threats have also been received. While the Home Department confirmed that the most sensitive districts include South Waziristan, North Waziristan, Orakzai, Kurram, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Karak, Lucky Marwat, Bannu, Kohat, Peshawar and Mardan.

The police required around 118106 personnel but only 91033 were available, which included 89959 police officials and 1074 Malakand Levies.

The provincial government has provided around 25445 government servants of different departments to bridge the gap.

The Population Department has released 1051

officials with the forest department 1204, wild

life 776, Excise and Taxation 457, anti-corruption 254,

fisheries 537, civil defense 4125, and higher education 2844.

IG Akhtar Hayat Khan said the KP police had made foolproof security arrangements for the general elections.

The army, Frontier Corps, and Frontier Constabulary will also be available to ensure security.

He said around 88676 personnel will be deployed at the polling stations. Around 1959 security personnel will be stationed at the ECP, DROs, and ROs offices. An additional 3859 personnel will be deployed as the Rapid Response Force.

The KP government has requested the deployment of law-enforcement agencies including the army, Frontier Corps, and Frontier Constabulary.

Around 27118 army personnel along with 1143 Quick Response Force (QRF) will be deployed in the province.

KP has 21865494 registered voters including 11903710 male and 9937225 female voters.

The ECP has set up around 15649 polling stations including 4809 males and 4259 females, while 6572 are combined. As many as 4102 polling stations are the most sensitive, 5262 sensitive, 1483 snowbound, and 6091 normal.
