SWABI: Thalassemia Centre, established at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) Chota Lahor, has received a significant contribution of Rs6 million from Pakistan State Oil (PSO) as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The cheque for the granted amount was received by the Additional Hospital Director of Tehsil Hospital Chota Lahor Dr Hamid Ali.To discuss this development, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr Tufail Muhammad, Acting Chairman of BoG MTI-Swabi.
The meeting was attended by the administration of Bacha Khan Medical Complex (BKMC-MTI) and Gajju Khan Medical College (GKMC-MTI). The performance of the Thalassemia Centre was thoroughly discussed.
Dr Hamid Ali Yousafzai, the Additional Hospital Director of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Chota Lahore, informed the forum that the Thalassemia Centre had been inaugurated in September last year. Within a short period, it has already provided relief to hundreds of patients suffering from blood deficiency.
The statistics show that 978 patients visited the center for treatment, with 545 successful blood transfusions conducted so far.Acting Chairman BoG Dr Tufail Muhammad, emphasised that the contribution from PSO/CSR would greatly assist in the functioning of the Centre. Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the intention to pursue further collaborations with various organisations to ensure that no patient suffering from blood deficiency faces any shortage.
Dr Amjad Mahboob, Hospital Director of BKMC-MTI, informed the forum that the Finance Department would devise a comprehensive plan to ensure the proper utilisation of the amount granted.
A few days ago, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Dr Hamid Ali, representing the Thalassemia Centre, and Pakistan State Oil CSR. During the MoU signing ceremony, a cheque of Rs6 million was handed over to assist the Thalassemia Centre.
On the occasion, the additional hospital director expressed gratitude, specifically thanking PSO/CSR Chairperson Brig Rizwan Ahmed.The acting chairman of the BoG also made a visit to the research cell of the college, assuring his support for all types of research activities.
