KARACHI: Pakistani pop icon, Zoheb Hassan has lashed out at Pakistan Super League management for using his sister late Nazia Hassan’s hit ‘Disco Deewane’ at the opening ceremony of PSL 2019 without prior permission.
Nazia Hassan’s hit song, Disco Deewane, was performed during the opening ceremony of PSL by Shuja Haider and Aima Baig.
Disco Deewane is a 1981 Pakistani pop–disco debut album of Nazia Hassan, consisting of Nazia and her brother Zoheb Hassan. The music was composed by Zoheb himself.
It charted in fourteen countries worldwide and became the best-selling Asian pop record to-date.
In a Facebook post, Zoheb said, "I was shocked to see that a reputable platform like PSL used our track Disco Dewane without our prior permission. Outright infringement of intellectual property should be condemned.”
He went on to say, “I am going to take a legal stand on this one!”
