Marvel Studios to launch Pakistani-Muslim female superhero Ms Marvel in upcoming film
After the release of Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ (based on an African-American superhero) led to an incredible box-office collection worldwide, Marvel Studios has announced to make another film, featuring a Pakistani-Muslim female superhero.
However, who will play the revolutionary character is yet to be confirmed.
Marvel president Kevin Fiege stated that their upcoming film based on Captain Marvel – scheduled to hit cinemas in 2019 - has definitely paved way for a female superhero, called Ms Marvel.
“Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works. We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world.”
For many, Priyanka Chopra is the perfect fit for the character. The actress had already lent her voice to Ms Marvel’s alter ego named Kamala Khan in a video game back in 2016 who is a Muslim of Pakistani heritage living in New Jersey.
Confirming the news, the ‘Quantico’ starlet had said:
Consequently, fans of Priyanka Chopra want the actress to headline the role of female superhero, a Pakistani-Muslim, which is first of its kind to be showcased to the world.
