Astronauts play badminton to mark first sporting event in space


Soon after the successful launch of the Falcon Heavy rocket, another history was made when, on board the International Space Station, cosmonauts and astronauts played badminton as the first sporting event in space.

Undoubtedly, It would be a lot of fun playing in zero gravity, the match took place in one of the space station’s larger modules, requiring a special set of “space rules” that are far different from those are followed on the Earth.

American astronauts, Russian cosmonauts as well as one of the Japanese astronauts were having great fun playing that unusual interesting badminton game in the space where cramped conditions and lack of gravity inside the module facilitating creative play styles, including the players anchoring themselves to any side of the module that made sense, resulting the teammates often being upside down from each other.
