International cricket returns to Pakistan

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi announced on Monday that the World XI is coming to Pakistan in the second week of September opening the doors for international cricket to Pakistan.

Addressing the press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium, PCB Chairman said the World XI team will be announced in the next 72 hours.

Najam Sethi also confirmed that Sri Lankan team will be touring Pakistan in October this year while West Indian team will visit in November.

Chairman PCB said that Sri Lankan team will play one or two T20s matches while West Indies will play three T20s with Pakistan.

Sethi told the media that Sri Lankan team agreed to visit Pakistan after much consultation and effort of PCB. 

Talking about Pakistan Super League (PSL) final, he said that he wished that the match could be played in Karachi this year.

The PCB chief said the World XI team will be announced in the next 72 hours.

"Andy Flower will be the manager of the World XI team, rest of the names will be announced in 72 hours," Sethi said.

According the statement released by Cricket West Indies, West Indies and Pakistan Cricket Board are advancing discussions that will see the West Indies team play 3 T20 matches with Pakistan in Lahore in late November.

The statement further added that the tour will be subject to the ICC World XI team's visit to Pakistan and affirmation of manageable security by the ICC-sponsored security experts.
