Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal on Monday triggered a storm on social media with his outrageous  remarks that renowned Indian writer and human rights activist Arundati Roy should be tied to an army jeep,  a reference to an incident in which an army officer tied a Kashmiri man to his vehicle as human shield last month.

Rawal, a ruling party lawmaker, tweeted “"Instead of tying stone pelter on the army jeep tie up Arundhati Roy!"

The Indian army’s act was widely condemned by human rights activists.

Arundhati Roy is known for her has been a vocal critic of the army's role in occupied Kashmir.

Street protests flared in recent weeks as thousands of Kashmiris vented anger against abuses by Indian forces after a video emerged of a local man tied to the front of an army jeep and used as a human shield.
