Leave Bollywood if it's so bad: Karan Johar to Kangana Ranaut

MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Kangana Ranaut and Karan Johar may be headed towards a conflict as the latter recently hit out at the former, claiming that if the film industry was so bad then the actress should leave it.

Everyone knew things were headed towards a showdown when Kangana Ranaut called Karan Johar the 'flag bearer of nepotism' in his show Koffee with Karan. The director did not react much then but the dialogue did catch a lot of eyebrows and people commended Kangana for speaking her mind.

In a recent interview, Johar lashed out at the actress, claiming that she did not understand what nepotism meant at all in the first place.

"What I want to say is I don’t think she has understood the entirety of that statement because what is nepotism? Am I working with my son, daughter or nephew? What about those 15 filmmakers who are not from the film industry?"

Karan claimed that he had launched only two actors and those were Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, stating that Sidharth Malhotra (who also made his debut in Student of the Year) 'was just 1/3rd of them'.

"As far as actors are concerned, I have launched just two of them i.e. Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Sidharth Malhotra was just 1/3rd of them and had nothing to do with the movies. So I really didn’t get what she meant," he said.

The actor and producer was quite miffed with Kangana's remarks against 'movie mafia' claiming that he chose not to work with the actress owing to his own opinions.

"What does she mean by ‘movie mafia’? What does she think we are doing? Sitting here and not giving her work? Is that what makes us mafia? We do that by our choice. I do that because may be I am not interested to work with Kangana and that does not make me movie mafia, it makes me a man with an opinion," he said.

And he followed the statements up by concluding that the actress should quit the industry, if she had so many complaints with it.

"I want to conclude by saying I am done with Kangana playing the woman card and the victim card. You can’t be a victim at every point of time who has a sad story to say as to how you have been terrorised by the bad world of industry. If that’s the case, leave it," he said.
