Screening of documentary about Jamiluddin Aali held at Pak Consulate in US

HOUSTON: Pakistani Council General in Houston Aisha Farooqi has said that services of legendary poet late Jamiluddin Aali will be written with golden words and remain a part of Pakistan history.

She said that national songs written by him awakens the national spirit and love for the nation in people of Pakistan.

She was addressing at a gathering at Pakistan Consulate in Houston for the screening of a film “Khawab ka Safar” (Journey of dreams), which is based on the life of late Jameel Uddin Aali.

The event was jointly hosted by Pakistan Consulate and Taqdee- e-Adab society to pay tribute to legendary poet.

She said that Aali was multi-talented and visionary personality and was recognized for his services throughout the country. The documentary on the life story of late legendary poet provides opportunity to young people to learn from his life.

Addressing the event Jameel Uddin Aali’s son Raju Jameel said that his father had worked with Quaid-e- Azam and Liaqat Ali Khan.

“He had complete faith in Pakistan as he preferred migrating to Pakistan leaving a luxury life in India”

Raju Jameel said that in recognition of his national services and his two years of free services to Army Music school, he was sent a check of three lakh rupees by then army chief General Aslam Beg, which he returned back with three cross lines with thanks saying  he did not perform the service for any monetary gain.

“General Beg called him and insisted on a payment against his services and asked him if he would prefer a plot or two, my father laughed and told him that he would not take one but three plots in Army graveyard. He claimed those three "plots" for himself, his wife and his mother.

 Raju Jameel said that his father never took money for any of national songs he wrote. He said “Aey watan ke sajeeley jawano”, “Itne bare jeewn sagar mein” which was sung by Allan Faqeer, the famous “Jeewey Pakistan” and “Mera Paigham Pakistan” were few of the top hits which he penned.

The event was also addressed by Taqdees e Adab Houston’s President Fayyaz Khan, Zafar Tahir and others. The event was followed by the documentary “Khwab ka safar” on Jameel Uddin Aali’s life, which was made by his younger son Murad Jameel.
