DUBAI: Pakistan Test cricket captain Misbah-ul-Haq said this is the most appropriate time for young Babar Azam for making his Test debut.
Misbah was talking at a media conference here on Wednesday before the three-Test series which will begin from Thursday, October 13.
The first Test, Pakistan’s 400th, will be a day/night match, to be played under flood lights with pink ball.
Misbah hoped his team will make the match one to remember.
"Two things (the pink ball and 400th Test) have mixed so it has become exciting for the players. It´s an honour for me to be leading the Pakistan side and this becomes a motivation to do well and make it memorable."
The Pakistan captain said that his boys were waiting for the Test series anxiously and they all set to make another clean sweep after T20 and ODI whitewashes against the West Indies.
“However, we should not take the West Indies lightly”, said Misbah.
He also confirmed that the young batting sensation Babar Azam is going to make his Test debut after displaying exra-ordinary performance in the series of Twenty20 and One-day Internationals against the West Indies.
Babar will replace veteran batsman Younis Khan, who is not feeling fit to play the first Test.
The remaining two Tests -- both traditional day affairs -- will be played in Abu Dhabi (October 21-25) and Sharjah (October 30-November 3).
