Video: Prince Harry break silence about his ‘purpose’ and ‘identity’ as a person
Prince Harry gets emotional in his admission about life, purpose and all that he too lost one day
NATO's Military Committee in Brussels recently received a treat, in the form of a video-based speech by Prince Harry, the British Prince, and founder of The Invictus Games.
For those unversed with the appearance, it cantered around his experience as a former member of the armed forces, as well as his experience, hanging it on the rack when Megxit came about.
After a nod over the sheer ‘privilege’ this address is, he really started to tug at heartstrings.
It is there that his emotional piece began stirring to life and viewers saw him admit, “a great deal has changed since then (2024). But what has not changed is the common ground between NATO and Invictus - and my belief that there is far more we can do together.”
“Because at its heart, NATO is an alliance of nations. But those nations are defended by people. People who volunteer to serve. People who train together, deploy together, fight together and in many cases, recover together as well. And families who serve alongside them in ways that are rarely acknowledged. And ultimately, people who come home. And that last part matters.”
Right at this point he turned attention inward and said, “I know something about that transition. When I hung up my uniform, I felt as though I had lost not simply a profession, but part of my purpose and identity.”
Shortly after saying that he touched on all the ways he’s been “fortunate” – whether it be to have “another way to serve” or help others “find their way forward” via The Invictus Games.
His concluding remarks focused exclusively on the event, and he said, “sport is one of our tools. Our mission is much bigger. We rebuild purpose. We rebuild confidence. We strengthen families and communities. We connect veterans back into society. And increasingly, we connect nations so they can learn from each other about recovery, rehabilitation, mental health and life after service.”
