Kit Harington wanted 'Harry Potter' TV series before joining the cast

When HBO announced a TV show based on the widely popular Harry Potter series, some Potterheads questioned the need for one, since the film series already existed.

However, not Kit Harington.

Long before him, he cast Gilderoy Lockhart, which he coincidentally plays in an audiobook series for Harry Potter, in season two.

He told Happy Sad Confused, “When I knew they were doing this show, I was like, ‘I think that’s a brilliant idea; I think they can really delve into it further than the films did.'"

"I’m fully supportive of it. And then I got called to be in it, and that was just a very simple, ‘Yes, please!'”

Then, he was offered the role of Lockhart.

Now, as Season Two is in the works, Harington was asked what he decided on the professor's look.

In the Harry Potter film, the character was portrayed as a pristine, handsome wizard.

But the Game of Thrones star said that it is currently a top secret.

"I'm going to say little highly about anything because it’s very secretive,” he said.

“But yes, I’m engaging with that as we speak," the actor added.

Nicholas Hoult was previously locked in for Lockhart, but he backed out because of a scheduling conflict.
