Prince Harry, Meghan Markle warned of 'severe' security threat after UK move

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been warned to be "discreet," as the security threat facing the royal family is "severe."

“The threat to the UK and its assets, of which the Royal Family is one, is currently severe,” former  bodyguard of the British royal family, Simon Morgan, told Page Six on Thursday.

“Being discreet and unobtrusive is really important — you don’t want to unsettle the environment, as that causes problems,” he continued.

Although the 42-year-old Harry is no longer a working member of the Royal Family, he still retains the title of "Prince" and is a highly prominent public figure.

Beyond security concerns arising from "potential threats," Simon also highlighted other factors relevant to the assessment of his security, including his substantial net worth and his status as a former military officer.

“[Harry] publicly discussed killing Taliban fighters in his memoir,” the former member of royal security team noted.

“Therefore, they seek to reduce and mitigate the risks by using security [and] professionals whose job it is to deal with these threats,” Simon said.

This news emerged after Harry and Meghan pulled Archie and Lilibet out of their school amid security issues.

"The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family's security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements," a spokesperson the Sussexes said. "The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family.

"This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there," the statement concluded.

According to Simon, the couple did the "right thing" by taking their children out of school.
