Neil Young expresses love for his wife, Daryl Hannah, in sweet song

Neil Young opens up about his love for Daryl Hannah in new song Earth Girl.

The Like A Hurricane singer releases his new album Second Song on September 18 and it features a track dedicated to his actress wife, who he married in 2018, and Neil has confessed the song is one of his favourites.

He told MOJO magazine, "It has two melodies in it – one melody on top of another. One has a lot of words that come fast, and the other one is more gentle.”

"That’s one of my favourite songs. I know it describes my love for Daryl pretty well," Neil admitted.

The Harvest Moon hitmaker started dating the Splash star in 2014 after splitting from his second wife Pegi Morton earlier that year and the couple went on to tie the knot in 2018.

Now Neil has confessed it took him his "whole life" to find his true love, telling the publication, "It took my whole life to find it, but then when I was there, I was going: 'There are no worries here of any consequence.'”

"We are very close together in our life experiences. As artists, we understand each other. We understand the space and the time that’s required to do whatever it is we want to do," he explained of his dynamics with wife, Daryl.

The album, Second Song also includes several old songs which the rocker dug out from his archive and re-recorded with his band The Chrome Hearts.

One of the tracks, I'll Love You Forever, is about a teenage crush and was written around 60 years ago, but Chrome Hearts drummer Anthony LoGerfo is adamant the song is just as relevant today because of Neil's love for Daryl.

Anthony explained, "He wrote I’ll Love You Forever as a teenager, about a teenage love, but now it applies so much to his life. Because that love is so pure, like a teenage love. Their love is for real."

Meanwhile, Neil Young added of the song, "The feeling in the song was like it could have been yesterday. I was young when I wrote it, but that doesn’t matter, because that’s just the age of my body. I could have written it tomorrow. I disassociate it from the time frame. Songs are great – if you’re there when you do it and you’re not contriving something and you’re letting it happen, it’s going to be there with you forever."
