BRICS 2026: Indian sniper suspended after revealing location on social media
A video of the sniper holding a rifle on a hotel rooftop gained millions of views when it was reported that he was suspended
An Indian police sniper was suspended after revealing his location by posting images of himself atop a hotel hosting foreign delegates for BRICS summit in New Delhi.
The officer’s Instagram account was also blocked after what was called a security breach.
Reports said that the officer was removed from his duty and sent home after the incident.

Commenting on the video posted on X, one user wrote, “When your sniper is more focused on getting likes than protecting leaders This is next-level carelessness.”
Another wrote, “Who in this whole world make reels out of this kind of duty and post in on Instagram! Right thing which followed. Social media doesn’t only give job it takes also.”
The 18th BRICS Summit took place from September 12 to September 13, 2026.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and other world leaders were hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendrda Modi for BRICS summit.
BRICS was set up to challenge a world order dominated by the United States and its Western allies.
Together, its members account for more than 40% of the world's population and almost a quarter of the global economy.
