Joey King sets record straight on cosmetic surgery speculations

Joey King has shut down the claim that she underwent cosmetic surgery ahead of the 2026 Met Gala.

The 27-year-old actress addressed the online rumors during an appearance on the latest episode of the In Your Dreams podcast.

“I didn’t get a facelift,” Joey said. “I’m glad we’re talking about this. … Just want to let you know, didn’t get work done, didn’t get a facelift.”

The Practical Magic 2 actress made it clear that she did not undergo any plastic surgery prior to the fashion event, although she did make some temporary changes to prepare for the red carpet.

“What I did do, I got a spray tan,” Joey recalled. “And then I did a 36-hour fast. No food, nothing but water, which I don’t promote that.”

"What happened was I was at a bachelorette party the weekend before, and I was looking swollen, and I was drinking a lot," she explained. "I looked busted. And I was like, 'I gotta do a reset. I'm going to do a 24-hour fast.'" 

"By the time I woke up and ordered lunch the next day, it wound up being 36 hours and everything," continued Joey.

The American actress then shared details of the beauty treatments she underwent before the fashion's biggest night.

"I got a lymphatic massage, and then I got a facial the day before the Met. And then on the day of the Met, I had another face lymphatic massage," Joey said. 

“We were doing everything we could to look amazing on the carpet, and guess what, it worked because everybody thought I had plastic surgery,” she concluded.
