Fast-moving wildfire threatens homes in Turkey's Antalya province, authorities warn

Emergency response teams have mobilized across Turkey's southern Mediterranean coast to combat a fast-moving wildfire that tore through sections of Antalya's Aksu district.

The blaze, which erupted in the Karaöz neighborhood under yet-to-be-determined circumstances, was supercharged by strong winds that rapidly pushed flames and burning embers toward built-up residential zones.

Local authorities acted swiftly to issue mandatory evacuations across vulnerable sectors, including portions of the Döşemealtı, Kızıllı, and Ilıca districts, alongside a local animal shelter. 

At least one property was reported completely destroyed, while highway links connecting Karaöz to central Antalya were temporarily closed due to dense smoke.

The General Directorate of Forestry deployed an intensive multi-agency response, utilizing 275 firefighters, 45 fire engines, nine helicopters, and three specialized aircraft to combat the perimeter from both air and ground.

While officials confirmed that no casualties have been recorded, residents and local administrators remain on high alert as unpredictable wind patterns continue to challenge containment operations across the fire-prone region.
