'The Gentlemen' star Theo James talks about his experience working with David Beckham

Theo James has opened up about his experience working with David Beckham.

In an interview with People, the actor who starred alongside the legendary footballer in Stella Artois and Netflix campaign tied to The Gentlemen season 2, shared that he grew up watching David evolve his career.

He said, "I grew up, as a lot of people did, you know, watching him from a teenager all the way through how he’s evolved his career in many multifaceted ways."

Adding that he met David through a friend of the former soccer player, but "hadn’t got to really hang out with him" before.

Theo further shared, "I enjoyed the fact of how down to earth he is."

"Despite the magnitude of his success, and he is a kind of British icon, he’s a really safe, normal dude, and I really enjoyed hanging out with him," he said.

Reflecting on the experience of filming, Theo James shared that one of the places where he shot with David was also where he shot a scene from season 2 of The Gentlemen. He said, "I had an element of deja vu."

On the other hand, Theo also reflected on what matters most to him away from his acting career. As a father of two, he says his family and longtime friends are the things he values most. "I think the thing that’s worth most is family and old friends."

"I’ve always said that it’s a bit of a strange world in some ways, working as an actor.

"There’s lots of people around you, but in a way, it’s singular because you’re bouncing between different projects and characters but what maintains integrity and normalcy and all those kind of things are your family and the friends you’ve had for many years, they’re things that keep you grounded," he said.
