Texas court makes major move in Alex Jones case: Here’s why

A Texas appeals court has reduced Alex Jones’ $50 million judgment to $1.5 million over his false claims that the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown was a hoax.

The ruling does not affect a major $1.4bn judgment against Jones in Connecticut but is a landmark ruling for Jones after he and his company, Free Speech Systems, were held responsible for defamation related to claiming the shooting did not happen.

The consensus opinion issued by the Texas third court of appeals showed that Sandy Hook parents Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis did not reveal much evidence that harassment aggravated by Jones's hoax claims elevated to a level that would allow them to surpass the state’s $75,000 cap on damages.

In light of the current situation, Jones’ trial attorney Andino Reynal had responded immediately after the verdict that Jones would dispute the valuation and predicted that it would be reduced to $ 1.5 million.

Jones and his company have filed for bankruptcy and legal proceedings; moreover, he gave up the Infowars brand in April and moved to a new location flipping channels to new websites and posting them on his personal X account.
