Neutrogena, a skincare company, has been under fire after the death of Hayden Panettiere over allegedly cutting ties with the actress because she disclosed her mental health challenges.

Now, the company has broken its silence.

"For more than a decade, Hayden was a valued member of our Neutrogena community," the message read.

The company admitted, "We are proud to have partnered with her and understand that we made her feel unsupported during a very difficult time."

Neutrogena noted, "This is not what Neutrogena stands for or who we want to be."

The skincare giant's supposed admission comes after fans flooded the social media pages of the company with angry comments after the actress's death, blaming them for playing a role in deteriorating her mental health.

Panettiere and Neutrogena had a history

For years, the actress was the front face of the company.

But reportedly it nearly came crashing down when the Nashville star reflected publicly about her postpartum depression.

In her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, she revealed the behind-the-scenes of her representative's desperate attempts to save the partnership with the company after it was allegedly on the brink of being lost after discussing her mental health struggles.

Eventually, the deal ended after the 10-year ambassador term expired.

Now, with Neutrogena reflecting on the controversy, it remains to be seen whether it will slow the backlash or light a new fire.
