'30 Rock' star Tracy Morgan looks back on near-fatal crash as he receives major TV honor

Tracy Morgan, famed American stand-up comedian and actor, detailed how he went from experiencing a coma and receiving an accolade.

On August 8, the Saturday Night Live alum was honored at the African American Film Critics Association TV Awards ceremony as he received the inaugural Flip Wilson Award for paving the way for Black entertainers on TV.

During his acceptance speech, the comedian recalled his 2014 accident when he was struck by a truck and was placed in a medically induced coma.

He told the crowd on the stage, "I remember being in a coma and now I'm accepting an award.

"It's crazy. A coma, y'all! I was on the other side. You know what God said to me? None of your business! I'll tell you something: keep it to yourself."

Following the medical scare, Morgan spent months in a wheelchair and was unable to walk.

Gushing over his honor, he continued, "Flip Wilson was a legend and a trailblazer, who I saw when I was little. Never did I ever think I would be him. He made the world laugh a lot, and that is what I'm trying to do, always."

"I got hit by a truck. I'm still here," Morgan proclaimed after leaving the stage.

It is pertinent to mention that Morgan has previously earned two Emmy nominations for his supporting role on 30 Rock and for hosting SNL in 2016.
