Billie Eilish leaves music behind for bold new Hollywood chapter

Billie Eilish has stepped into the acting world.

The first photos from the set of The Bell Jar were released, showing the Birds of a Feather singer transformed into the troubled inspiring writer with auburn-brown hair, bold red lipstick and elegant 1950s inspired fashion.

The Grammy and Oscar-winning singer was photographed filming in Toronto, where she stars as Esther Greenwood in director Sarah Polley's adaptation of Sylvia Plath's iconic 1963 novel.

One scene showed, Eilish strolling through a recreated mid-century New York City street wearing a red knit sweater,.

It is pertinent to mention that The Bell Jar follows Esther Greenwood as she grapples with ambition, identity and mental health after securing a prestigious magazine internship. The Oscar-winning filmmaker Sarah Polley directs and adapts the project, marking her first feature since Women Talking.

Besides Billie Eilish, the film also stars two-time Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan as Esther's mother, Mrs. Greenwood.

While this is the Bad Boy singer's first feature role, she previously appeared in Prime Video's Swarm in 2023.

Furthermore, Eilish also has won two Academy Awards with her brother Finneas for No Time to Die and What Was I Made For?
