Hoda Kotb struggles with her wellness platform
Hoda Kotb's 'Joy 101' faces challenges
Hoda Kotb’s wellness app Joy 101 is reportedly under the spotlight amid growing pressure.
A source shared with Radar Online and discussed the wellness platform’s subscriber challenge: "There was enormous interest when Hoda announced the app."
"The challenge is keeping people engaged after they've signed up. That's where every subscription business is won or lost," the source said.
Offering another perspective, the source claimed, "Celebrity alone isn't enough anymore. You need fresh content every day, new voices, and a constant reason for people to come back."
Reportedly, an insider described her leaving Today as the reason she is facing the challenges, noting, "giving up an incredible promotional engine."
"Building that audience from scratch is a massive challenge," the source pointed out.
Kotb knew what she was doing on Today, but she had an army of folks to support her there."
"Unfortunately, that army works for NBC, not for Hoda," an insider added.
It is pertinent to mention that the Emmy-winning broadcaster bid farewell to the hit show Today on Friday, 10 January 2025.
Later in an interview, she revealed that her family was the reason behind her decision, stating, “There’s the guilt you carry because you can’t be 100% at work and 100% at home. Something has to give if you want excellence."
"If you’re going to be excellent at work, something has to give at home. And if you want to be excellent at home, I mean excellent, and do all the things, something has to give at work. It can’t be equal," Hoda Kotb added.
