Trump crashes Spain's World Cup trophy celebration, hot mic captures ‘blunt’ reaction
On Sunday, Spain lifted FIFA World Cup trophy after beating Argentina 1-0
When it comes to the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, only the winning team takes the center stage. But when Spain historically clinched the victory by defeating Argentina, another notable personality stole the spotlight.
And it was none other than US President Donald Trump.
After presenting Spain with the World Cup trophy, President Trump did not leave the stage but forced his way into the winning team’s group photo.
And this hijacking was not by mistake as FIFA president Gianni Infantino attempted to move Trump away from the team and let them celebrate their winning moment.
In spite of all these efforts, Trump remained on stage and moved closer to the team to fit himself inside the frame.
When this is all happening a hot mic captured the Aussie broadcaster’s blunt reaction to the scene unfolding on the World Cup stage.
An Australian broadcaster gets caught on a hot mic saying President Trump will be edited out of the picture of Spain celebrating the World Cup trophy.
"They're gonna edit him out of that."
The President’s awkward act took the internet by storm as the fans expressed frustration and demonstrated mixed reactions. Some called it “egocentric act” and some quipped about how President Trump considered himself part of the team.
One user wrote, “Trump just refusing to leave when they’re lifting the trophy. Infantino desperately tried to get him to move. Circus.”
Another joked about, “Bro thinks he is on the team.”
Trump and FIFA President were met with boos upon entering the pitch. The pair had previously watched the match from a secure, glass-enclosed area in the stands alongside administration officials and other guests.
