Why Jay-Z's final Yankee Stadium concert was delayed by three hours
Jay-Z explains on stage the reason for delaying the concert
In the final concert of Jay-Z's otherwise glowing 30th anniversary celebration, a roadblock emerged: a delay of three hours.
But according to the rapper, he has a genuine reason to hold up the show for a few hours.
He explained on stage that the delay was due to crowd safety outside Yankee Stadium.
“Let me explain the delay to you guys,” he said, adding, “It was like 10,000 people outside, and we closed all the doors, and somebody rushed the door."
"They closed the door for you guys’ safety and everyone’s safety outside. There’s 10,000 people outside; I don’t want to start the music and people get trampled," the Grammy winner shared.
"I’m really sorry for the inconvenience, but I had to make sure everyone was okay. I appreciate your patience.”
But the late start has its own reward.
As Jay-Z sprung upon Rihanna on stage, ending her two-year break from performing in concerts.
"Oh my God, I missed this shit, y'all!" the pop icon said before belting out Run This Town and Bitch Better Have My Money. "New York, I love you guys!"
Riri was not alone in setting fire to the stage.
Beyoncé is another star who rocked the fans with a performance of Drunk in Love, followed by her daughter, Blue Ivy, wowing the fans with a piano play during her father's track, Feelin It.
Despite the packed performance, the night was not over, as Eminem also joined Jay-Z's celebrations, with both performing Renegade.
