Nancy Guthrie’s case, since its inception, has been baffling the investigators as her presumed kidnapper(s) have continued to elude the authorities.

But during her disappearance, the officials received several ransom notes, demanding a jaw-dropping sum against the 84-year-old's freedom.

However, recently, a new ransom note was received, and it shockingly claimed Nancy was dead and “buried with nature".

The claim that Savannah Guthrie’s mom was dead was similarly made in a previous note.

Yet the authorities have not confirmed the ransom note's authenticity.

But Jennifer Coffindaffer, who is an ex-FBI agent, said she believed the latest note claiming ‘Nancy is dead’ is genuine.

However, the former investigator did not stop there.

She further said there is a possibility that Nancy’s alleged kidnappers may have a motive for sending the new ransom note.

Coffindaffer claimed the presumed captors were aware of laws in Arizona, where murder is punishable by the death penalty.

“They have a murder on their hands as opposed to a kidnapping, and that is punishable by the death penalty in Arizona, and they well know this,” she told NewsNation.

So, the note, Coffindaffer said, may be a desperate attempt by alleged kidnappers to escape the death penalty if they get caught.

“This is some sort of pretext to kind of say, ‘Listen, we didn’t mean for this to happen.'”

Coffindaffer said the ransom letter was basically a “mea culpa for the event that they are caught".

Through the ransom note, the former FBI agent claimed, the alleged kidnappers wanted to “control the narrative” and "hoped he could get a Bitcoin out of it, too".

In the meantime, the investigation into Nancy’s disappearance is ongoing. Yet, so far, no suspect has been arrested.
