BC Lions make coaching change, dismissing Cory McDiarmid after 0-3 start to CFL season
BC Lions general manager Ryan Rigmaiden confirmed McDiarmid's departure with immediate effect and thanked him for his contribution to the organisation
The BC Lions have dismissed special teams co-ordinator Cory McDiarmid after the club's winless start to the Canadian Football League season.
The decision was announced on Sunday, less than 24 hours after the Lions suffered a 41-33 defeat to the Calgary Stampeders at Kelowna's Apple Bowl.
The result left British Columbia at the bottom of the CFL West Division with three consecutive losses.
In a statement, Lions general manager Ryan Rigmaiden confirmed McDiarmid's departure with immediate effect and thanked him for his contribution to the organisation.
According to the team, McDiarmid is a highly experienced CFL coach who previously worked with several franchises and won two Grey Cups during his coaching career with the BC Lions and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The coaching change comes as the Lions attempt to revive their campaign after a disappointing opening to the season.
The Lions now turn their attention to a difficult challenge against the unbeaten Edmonton Elks, who visit Kelowna on Saturday.
