Jelly Roll lands major TV role days after Bunnie Xo divorce filing
Jelly Roll steps into late-night role after filing for divorce from Bunnie Xo
Jelly Roll is setting into a new role as late-night television guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live during Jimmy Kimmel’s upcoming break.
Kimmel announced on Thursday that he will take two months off from the show. He said the break is voluntary and explained that a group of guest hosts will fill in during his absence.
The line-up includes Tiffany Haddish, Coleman Domingo, Ike Barinholtz, Anthony Anderson, Jelly Roll, and Rosie O’Donnell.
Kimmel previously referred to Jelly Roll, real name Jason DeFord, as one of the celebrities who will take over hosting duties while he is away. Jelly Roll has already guest-hosted the show twice before, in July 2025.
The announcement comes just days after news surfaced that Jelly Roll filed for divorce from his wife, Bunnie Xo, in May after 10 years of marriage. Court documents list May 9 as the date of separation and cite irreconcilable differences.
Reports also say movers were recently seen at the couple’s Tennessee home.
Both Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo have spoken publicly about the split. Bunnie said the couple had a major argument on Mother’s Day, after which she encouraged him to file for divorce. She also said their fertility struggles put pressure on the relationship.
She confirmed that despite the separation, they are still trying to have a child through IVF. She also said Jelly Roll has already started dating again.
Jelly Roll addressed the breakup during a recent concert in New York. He said he and Bunnie Xo remain close and called her his best friend. He elaborated there was no cheating involved in the split.
