Tyra Banks makes glamourous appearance in 'Project Runway' Season 22 trailer

Tyra Banks is returning to Project Runway for its upcoming 22nd season.

Hulu confirmed her return in the official trailer released on Thursday, June 18, showing Banks alongside returning judges Heidi Klum, Law Roach, and Nina Garcia, with season 4 winner Christian Siriano also back as mentor.

The new season marks another collaboration between several familiar faces from the fashion competition series.

Banks, best known for hosting America’s Next Top Model, previously appeared as a guest judge in season 21, making this her first recurring role on the show in years.

Season 22, which premieres on July 9, will debut on Freeform before streaming on Hulu and Disney+, with weekly episodes after the release. The upcoming season brings on screen 22 designers this time, making it the largest cast in the show’s history.

Several guest judges and celebrities will also be making appearances, including Ciara, Ice Spice, Iman, Kiernan Shipka, Niecy Nash, Nina Dobrev, and fashion designers such as Willy Chavarria and Sergio Hudson. Influencers and media personalities like Nara Smith and Paige DeSorbo will also appear throughout the season.

The season will also feature crossover appearances from the Dancing with the Stars cast, including professional dancers, as well as reality TV stars from Hulu’s wider programming lineup, such as The Bachelorette and Vanderpump Villa. Former contestants and winners from Project Runway will also return in guest and model roles.

The announcement comes shortly after Banks filed a legal complaint claiming a recent documentary about America’s Next Top Model misrepresented her through selective editing. 

She has alleged that only a small portion of her interview was used and that it was taken out of context to support a misleading narrative. Banks is seeking damages and a jury trial in the case.
