'Elf' and 'GTA' actor Faizon Love booked in Florida jail

American actor and comedian Faizon Love has been arrested in Tampa, Florida.

Arrest records reveal that the 58-year-old was booked into the Hillsborough County jail on Tuesday and charged with contempt of court and criminal contempt of court. He is currently being held without bond.

Court records show a warrant for his arrest was issued last month in connection with a child support case that dates back to 2019.

Love’s attorney confirmed the arrest but did not provide further details about the case.

This is not the first legal issue involving Love, best known for playing the Gimbels department store manager in the 2003 Christmas film Elf alongside Will Ferrell and voicing Sean “Sweet” Johnson in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

In 2017, he was arrested after an altercation at an airport in Ohio involving a valet. He later pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor assault charge and was fined.

He has also faced civil lawsuits from former personal assistants alleging harassment, which were later settled.

More recently, Love faced a felony assault case in San Diego related to an alleged 2024 incident at a hotel. Prosecutors allege he attacked a hotel employee with a credit card reader after a dispute over a booking. He has pleaded not guilty, and a trial is scheduled for later this year.

A judge is also considering whether he can enter a mental health diversion program, which could allow him to receive treatment instead of jail time if he qualifies.
